Is Your Relationship For A Reason, A Season or A Lifetime

Often times we find different people knock at our doors at different times. They enter our lives to fulfill some need or a purpose. Depending on the kind of lessons we most need to learn, they stay for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Once the purpose for which they enter our world is fulfilled, they part ways. A lot of times we don’t even know the reason as to why they walked away until life reveals to us.

This can be life-transforming depending on the intensity of the bond we have with that person. Such situations push us into bringing in some kind of a change in our attitude, lifestyle, behavior, etc. for good.

These people come to us to fulfill a need, teach a lesson or help us to apply those lessons in our lives. They move out of our lives once their task is done. However, our job is to accept the lessons and be grateful to the person who gave us this gift of learning.

Whether they are there for a reason, season or a lifetime, we must realize that their role in our lives is indispensable.

In other words, we must value their presence as they are God sent.

NOTE
Their loss inspires us and doesn’t break us in a way. That is to say, it makes us see this event of separation in a positive light than perceiving it as a tragic event. That’s how we allow that situation to grow us mentally, emotionally and physically.

Interestingly, there is a well-known poem by an anonymous author- “Reason, Season, or Lifetime.” It teaches us about accepting the impermanence of relationships in our lives and recognizing the lessons they leave us with.

Reason Season Lifetime Poem

Below is the ‘reason season lifetime’ poem:

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

SUMMARY
There are some people who come into our lives for a reason. They are like our Godsent guide and help us physically, emotionally or spiritually. Their presence can transform our lives completely.

Often people come into our lives for a reason. They might be there to fulfill your needs or offer you something new to learn.

Most importantly, they may open an all-new doorway in your life which you may have never discovered by yourself.

Once the purpose for which they came into your life is served, they leave. They may die or simply don’t feel connected to you anymore and choose to leave you.

The end of this relationship might leave you devastated. However, if you can see the truth for what it’s here for, you may be able to let it go with much ease.

For example, all of a sudden someone enters your life and makes you realize your strengths. You may change your career path just because he/ she has helped you to recognize your newfound skill.

SUMMARY
Some people enter our life to make us aware of our own strengths which we may not be knowing. They may greatly inspire us and aid us in realizing our true potential.

There are other times when people enter your life for a season. They may help you in bringing in something which you have never done or been before.

They are there to share and celebrate your life with you in all your moments. It is during these times, you learn, grow and expand further.

Such people are also there for a limited period. They also come and go just like a season. Once a season gets over, it’s time for them to take off. Your job is to learn from your experience with them and be grateful for what they taught you.

For instance, you meet someone you fall in love with and this person is full of life and lives very spontaneously.

While you are not a free-spirited person and tend to worry a lot. So, you also learn to become free like them and start to have more fun with life.

SUMMARY
There are those people who form an integral part of our lives as they are with us for a long time or rather a lifetime. They assist in developing a solid support system and contribute greatly to who you are as a person.

Lifetime relationships are often family relationships or long-term relations that help you to embrace yourself and others unconditionally. You need to accept the lesson learned and apply it in your life in turn.

For example- your parents may be there for you for decades. They have been there in your thick and thin times and certainly know you very well.

It is what you learn through them that often goes a long way in guiding you all through your life.

Reason Season Lifetime – Take-home Message

This reason, season or lifetime poem is a beautiful one that shows us the impermanence of relationships and the significance they have in our lives.

Above all, it tells us when to mark an end to a relationship or friendship.

Dragging them beyond their destined time for our own selfish motives is not a healthy practice.

Fundamentally, life is a growing school and each person or event helps us to evolve into our best selves. We must acknowledge the presence of each person that steps into our life.

Their coming into our lives is not an accident. The universe perfectly orchestrated it to give us the appropriate lesson at the appropriate time.

Therefore, we must be thankful to such people and have gratitude towards them since they contribute to our growth and learning.

The greatest gift we can offer in return is- practicing what they taught us. The invaluable guidance they offered shall forever live in our hearts. This is how we can reciprocate what they’ve given us.
